Volunteer

You can help make Unite 2 Fight a success this year. We need lots of help both on race day and before. Come by yourself, or bring a group along.


Volunteer Application

Volunteer Opportunities for 2008

  • Volunteer Check In (6:00am-8:00am: 4 volunteers):
    • Sign in volunteers and distribute volunteer t-shirts
    • Offer refreshments
    • Hold volunteers until assigned staff member comes for them
  • Pre-Registration Packet Pick-Up on Race Day/Rest & Recovery: (14 volunteers):
    • Distribute bib numbers to pre-registered entrants
    • ...then move to Rest & Recovery and help get fruit ready, keep tables stocked, hand out to runners/walkers then clean up area.
  • T-shirt distribution (6:00am-8:00am; 8 volunteers):
    • Distribute race t-shirts to pre-registered participants
  • Race Day Registration/Chip Removal: (6:00am-9:30am; 8 volunteers):
    • Assign numbers and shirts to those registering on race day
    • ...then move to Finish Line area and help with chip removal from competitive runners
  • Directional/Ask Me and Chip Removal: (6:00am-9:30am: 8 volunteers):
    • Answer questions, provide directions and hand out information.
    • ...Then move to Finish Line area and help with chip removal from competitive runners
  • Course Directional (7:00am-9:30am; 36 volunteers):
    • Stationed out on course to help control automobile traffic
  • Water Stations on the Course (6:45am-9:30am; 20 volunteers):
    • Set up tables & water dispensers; hand out cups of water to runners & walkers
    • After the event, clean up area completely and take down tables
  • Split Timers: (7:30am-9:30am: 2 volunteers)
    • Stationed out on the course at mile markers & calls out the times
  • Finish Line Scoring (8:00am-9:30am; 14 volunteers):
    • Assist in timing finishers (electronic & manual back up)
    • Assist finishers in chutes (keeping in order, help with chip removal etc.)
  • R&R Area Refreshments (6:00am-11:30am; 4 volunteers):
    • Set up tables, trash containers, signage & banners, etc.
    • Get fruit, etc. ready and keep tables stocked and hand out to runners and walkers
    • clean up area
  • Media Hospitality (2 volunteers):
    • Assist media and sponsors with information and refreshments.
  • Start Line (3 volunteers):
    • Assist with proper start of race
    • Keep everyone behind start line
    • Keep spectators away from start line and off street area
  • Photographers (6:00am-9:30am; 6 volunteers):
    • Take candid shots, team pictures, opening ceremony, awards, etc.
